Association of Anorexia Nervosa & Associated Disorders on NCTV17

The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) strives to end an epidemic. Approximately 30 million people struggle with eating disorders, and ANAD is committed to reducing this statistic. ANAD is a non-profit organization that specializes in the prevention and the recovery process associated with eating disorders, especially anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating.

ANAD advocates for the development of healthy attitudes, bodies, and behaviors. The organization promotes eating disorder awareness, prevention and recovery through supporting, educating, and connecting individuals, families and professionals.

In this interview, Maria Rago, Board President, explains how the organization started and dispels the misconception that eating disorders only affect women. Holly Curtis, who suffered – and recovered – from an eating disorder talks about the impact a support group can have on the recovery process.

If anyone has questions or thinks they, or a friend, might need help, ANAD offers a helpline that is open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Just call 630.577.1330.
